[MR] Regarding Private Awards - A Clarification

A recent post from one of my deputies has caused some confusion and I want to clarify. Some have felt this email made it seem former Monarchs had not fulfilled Their duties. This was not the case and was in no way intended. The situation referenced in the email was merely a bookkeeping glitch in the OP database.

We recently became aware that some awards made in absentia were hidden from public view in the OP, resulting in repeated recommendations for awards already bestowed. 

All of the awards were immediately marked ‘public’, as they were correctly and officially bestowed by the Monarchs who decreed the awards be made. We are investigating to determine the breadth of the issue.

Unfortunately, the post to the Merry Rose was made before we had completed that investigation.
  
It is Their Royal Majesties' intention simply to announce these recipients at Ruby Joust, so as to allow for public accolade and recognition of the recipients' achievements. They will not be re-bestowing the awards as some have thought. This was never Their intention.
I apologize on behalf of the College for any confusion caused. I hope that everyone can accept that any faux pas sprang from a desire to quickly address the glitch, which has now been addressed so this situation will not occur again.
