According the the Oxford English Dictionary that are at the very least over a quarter of a million words in the English language. And yet, with all those available to me, I cannot think of one that can exactly express my thanks and gratefulness to those who volunteered their precious time and talents to help me with the feast for Defending the Gate.
It is humbling.
I am grateful to my Lord for the life and breath, challenges and opportunities He has given me. Who new 37 years ago, that upon joining the SCA I'd be in the position to serve so many who are dear to me.
Thanks also go to...
Mistress Brianna and Baron Gustav for bread, ingredients, advice, kitchen utensils;
Baron Chirhart and baroness Jeanne for the meat slicer, trust, encouragement support
Mistress Cordelia for her advice, calm reassurance, kitchen help,
Countess Rowan for giving me the push and strength to become head cook
Akiyo and Raven for the truck, their talented hands, smiles,
Dierdre for the exquisite (and tasty) device center-pieces for the Kingdoms of England and France,
Khalid for her help with the little things that needed to be done,
Melenie for precook assistance,
Annelise (Iris mom 😉 ) for helping hands at precook too!
The Renaissance Club of mary Washington for AGAIN acting as minions cooking, cutting, arranging, serving
and all manner of what-not. You make a parent proud!
Genefe for trusting me once again with the gastronomical offerings of the event.
Their Excellencies of Stierbach for inducting me and the bright Hills Cooks Guild into Their Order of
Saint Roch...Wow...of WOW!
The Bright Hills Cooks Guild- nuff said! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My family, husband of the millennia Charlie, son Tom and daughter Abby for your support, ability to cook in
your own right and love
All the above have given me, freely, much of the following; their help, encouragement, advice, support,
kitchen items and homes, love, laughter, strong shoulders and backs, dexterous hands, guidance and...oh
geez...where are those quarter-of-a-million words when I need them.
I sincerely hope I have not forgotten anyone. Please let me know if I have, even a week away and the brain
is still a whirl of activity.
I would also like to thank the Cibola Herald from Atenveldt (at least that's what I remember your title to
be) who, over 30 or so years ago introduced me to the Society for Creative Anachronism. Who knew that
at that time I was on the road to finding, my dearest friends in life.
Thank-you and may God Bless you all...Vivat Atlantia, best of all Kingdoms!
