Noble friends,

If you are blue over not being able to go the War of the Wings, please
join us this Saturday (13 October) at Mallard Lodge for an evening of
snack food and a fun film. We will be showing THE MASTER OF BALLANTRAE,
starring Errol Flynn in a rousing Scottish pirate swashbuckler. The plot
is . . . uh . . . loosely (very!) based on Robert Louis Stevenson's
novel. The film also stars Beatrice Campbell, Roger Livesey, and a
whole bunch of recognizable, but now forgotten, British actors. Shot in
Scotland, Cornwall and Sicily, it is a lavish production in full
/colour/. Sword swinging, cannon fire, and Scottish castles! What could
be more fun? Of course, as a 1953 film, it is squeaky clean and fit for
youngsters.

As always we provide the popcorn and fizzy drinks. We also have some
rare yummies from Vermont and New Hampshire. You are welcome, but not
required, to bring your favorite goodies to share. Arrival and
plate-filling starts at 6 p.m., with the film beginning at 6:30 sharp.

Directions: Take your best route to the 250 bypass. If coming from the
east, go past Macintire Park. About 1/4 mile beyond the fire station,
exit right onto Meadowbrook Heights Road. Go north to the third stop
sign and turn left onto Essex Road. If you are coming from the west, go
through the 250/Hydraulic intersection, and immediately exit at Dairy
Road. At the end of the off-ramp turn left. Cross over 250 on the Dairy
Road bridge and bear right around the one remaining whale tail. At the
intersection of Meadowbrook Heights and Grove Road, turn left and go
north for two more stop signs to Essex. Turn left.

Ours is the seventh house on the right, a large brick traditional set
way back from the street, with two huge rocks on the lawn. The second
speed hump is right in front of our house. There is lots of street
parking, and we can take about four cars parallel parked down the left
side of our driveway. Come right on in through the kitchen door at the
end of the driveway. In case you get lost, the phone number is 293-5700.
We will send out a search party.

Your hosts,

Lord Mungo and Lady Sarah
