Youth Activities at Highlands River Melees (HRM) will be plentiful on
Saturday June 2, 2012

In the morning there will be a Youth/Page Class, taught by our Poeta
Atlantiae, Lady Katarzyna Witkowska. 9 AM
My Poem has Feet:  An introduction to poetry writing for children. Class
will include learning about feet, rhyme and meter and several easy poem
styles for children to use.  We will review existing poems for
inspiration.  Taking this class makes the children eligible to participate
in the Poeta's year long competition just for children. Write a Poem; tell
me; earn a bead; whoever has the most beads at the end of my tenure will
receive a special prize. During this class at HRMs the class participants
will write a poem for the Competition sponsored by the Poeta Atlantia.
Themes are "the red rose versus the white rose" and/or "the red dragon
fights the white boar."

Youth Armored and Youth Rapier Authorizations will begin promptly at 10 AM.
Division 1&2 Youth Rapier will begin at 11 AM.
Division 3&4 Youth Rapier will begin at 12 Noon and last until 3 PM

Youth Activities will begin at 12 Noon and last until 2 PM. This will
include  judging of entries into the "Brewing for the Youth" or youth
appropriate beverages.

Youth Armored Division 1&2 will begin at 2 PM
Youth Armored Division 3 will begin at 3 PM

There will be archery hosted by Lord Godai Katsunaga. Youth will shoot a
Medieval tournament, the same course as the adults. Youth could win an
award and a may strive to win the adult awards also...
