There has been some confusion.  The baking competition at Ruby Joust is not a competition to find a new Royal Baker, it is just a fun competition sponsored by the Royal Baker.

Please enter!  At the moment it looks like I will be feeding everyone at the tea by myself.

This is a reminder that there will be a fabulous baking competition going on at Ruby Joust this year.  I'm looking for entries, lots of them, from both novice and experienced bakers alike.  Just let me know what you plan to bring by the 20th so that I know how much food I need to bring.

Oh yeah, and the prizes are really cool too!

Subject: [MR] Baking Competition at Ruby Joust

Mistress Branwen Wallis
Royal Baker to the King and Queen of Atlantia
is sponsoring a

COMPETITION

to be held 26 May 2012 at Ruby Joust

The theme will be

ROYAL TEA:  TREATS FIT FOR A QUEEN’S TEA

Bring your favorite period goodies to be served to Her Majesty and guests at a tea given in her honor.  Prizes will be awarded for the winner and for Her Majesty’s choice.

Details

1.  Bring your entries to the pavilion ready to serve by 11 am so that there is plenty of time for setup and judging before the tea is served.

2.  Bring plenty to share.  Make sure there is enough for the judges and for guests to sample.

3.  Bring your documentation.  This can be as elaborate as you like or as simple as the original recipe on which your dish is based, your redaction, and an explanation of what you did and why.  Please bring extra copies to share with the judges, Her Majesty and your fellow bakers (or at least the original recipe and your redaction if your documentation is very long).  This is to be an educational experience for everyone.

4.  Entries can be savory or sweet but must include baking in some way.  This is, after all, a baking competition.

5.  Please send your proposal (number of entries and what they are) to me at rissaroo12 at comcast.netby 15 May.  Last minute entries are more than welcome, but advanced notice helps me to plan the rest of the menu.  We wouldn’t want Her Majesty’s guests to go hungry now, would we?!
