[MR] Active Season for Ticks

The biggest concern is Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I got it at a camping event and that year there were several others diagnosed with it as well. If within a week of the bite you just start to feel rotten, get a fever, severe headache.....see a doctor IMMEDIATELY!
While there is a blood test for it, you could be dead before the results come in. Doctors will treat the symptoms presumptively based on your symptoms and recent history of a tick bite. Antibiotics take care of the problem.
Please don't hesitate to see a doctor if you start to feel bad after a tick bite...it could cost your life.

Lyme disease and ticks are both prevalent in Northern Atlantia. I've heard
all sorts of stories and some of them were actually true! The best thing
is to do as Dulcy says - do frequent tick checks after any outdoor activity
- especially events with woods and high grass. The more foliage the higher
the risk. Check your pets as well - they are more likely to bring the
'hitch hikers" into the house than you are.
