[MR] removing shoo goo?

Does anyone have any suggestions for separating leather that's been glued with shoe goo, short of using a blade? 

I need to restitch part of one of my shoes. The upper is stitched to the sole, the sole was then glued to a rubber sole. The leather is pretty thin (not much heavier than garment weight) so I'm leery of cutting it. Any suggestions are welcome!
