[MR] VETERANS

Greetings to all!

As a Veteran myself, I am honored by all of the recent discussion on the topic.

My military service, while merely a natural extension of someone who recognizes their duty and then does it, is a signal honor to myself (and the continuing a very, very long family tradition...)  And even as such, I feel uncomfortable being honored for doing what was, to me, the "obvious choice."

I recall when I first joined the SCA, I was on active duty, and not one SCAian thought to offer a positive (or any) comment about my Service.  While it was not actively hurtful, it was neglectful.

Having said that, PLEASE do whatever we can to recognize and remember
those that have been willing to put themselves on the (often, very real) front line.  Many servicemen/women will not tell you that they are/were In Service, often for the same reason I state.  Their willingness to
sacrifice should not be overlooked, a moment of recognition costs
nothing, and gains everything.

Semper Fidelis,

Dughall-Eoghann LeGrannd
