Noble Friends, especially the Scots among us,
Today is a momentous day in Scottish history. The first recorded mention
of whisky was on 1 June 1495! "To Friar John Cor, by order of the King
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_VII_of_England>, to make aqua vitae
VIII bolls of malt <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malt>." --- Exchequer
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchequer> Rolls 1494--95, Vol x, p. 487.
So Scotch has really been making white men dance since 1495 (my T-shirt
says "1494", but who's counting?).
If you would like to know more about Scotch whisky, try this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotch_Whisky . Or you could take a tour of
Scotland, which always seems to include a visit to at least one distillery.
Yours Aye,
Lord Mungo Napier (Who actually prefers stout, but will celebrate anyway!)
