~Lord Dreux d'Anjou

*10am*

*Introduction to Armor Making* – A general overview of how to make armor
for SCA heavy fighting with a focus on frugality and safety. Making your
own armor can save you a lot of money and be a lot of fun all at the same
time!

*What’s This Heraldry Thing?* – This class is a discussion of what heraldry
means in the SCA and what it meant in medieval times lead by the Triton
Herald of Atlantia. This class is intended to be very newcomer friendly and
explain the basics of heraldry and its importance.

*11am*

*What Am I Seeing? (A Beginner’s Guide to Tournaments) *– The way
tournaments work and how they run is often an enigma for new members of the
SCA, but this class will help take away some of the mystery and explain how
things work.

*Introduction to Middle Eastern Dance* – Baroness Reyna and her husband,
Edward, have their own improvisational dance troupe and have entertained
the populace of the Sacred Stone for many years. Now you get to learn a few
of their tricks of the trade

*12pm*

*What to Expect as a Newcomer* – A general overview of the Society for
Creative Anachronisms and what to expect at your first event. This class is
an introduction to our hobby and made to help newcomers understand what
goes on at events and how they can participate and have fun!

*Performing Poetry* – Poetry is very much a courtly art which carries a
particular set of decorum that can be lost in many of the other bardic
arts. This class will hopefully teach you how the performance of poetry
differs from the other performing arts and how you can relate those other
arts to the performance of poetry.

*1pm*

*Embroidery for Beginners* – This class covers the basic theories of
embroidery and includes some hands on practice. Each participant should
leave the class at least knowing a stitch or two and how to get started
with embroidery

*Court Etiquette* – Court should never be feared! In this class, Queen
Brianna will explain what to do if you are called into court, how you
should behave, where you should kneel, or what you should expect. There
will even be some practical demonstrations and practices!

*2pm*

*Introduction to Brewing* – While this is a ‘dry’ site and alcoholic
beverages are not permitted, you can still learn the principles behind
brewing. This class will include a demonstration of how to begin brewing
and will stop just before adding the yeast to cause fermentation.

*The History of the Sacred Stone* – With next Labor Day representing the
Barony of the Sacred Stone's 30th anniversary as a barony, this is a
wonderful time to review a bit of our history. Since its creation on
September 6, 1982, the Barony of the Sacred Stone has enjoyed a rich and
exciting history.

*3pm*

*Simple Viking Wireweaving* – Also known as trichinopoly, this technique
creates chain work that can be either lacy or dense, depending on the
number of loops woven into in each round. The method is simple to learn,
but takes a little practice to master.

*Storytelling and Arthurian Myths* – Storytelling and oral history is a big
part of medieval life. In this class, one of our Kingdom’s foremost
storytelling laurels will go over the basics of storytelling and the
Arthurian myths.
