Flight of the Falcon is rapidly approaching (August 18th) and there is a
lot going on that you should know about.****
** **
First, the classes….****
As a newcomer event, Flight of the Falcon always seeks to educate and
inform about the various aspects of the SCA with classes geared towards new
folks.****
**· **We’ll have general SCA classes (What to Expect as a Newcomer;
What am I Seeing? A Beginners Guide to Tournaments; Armor Making)!****
**· **We’ll have performing arts classes (Performing Poetry;
Introduction to Middle Eastern Dance; and maybe even Introduction to
Storytelling)!****
**· **We’ll have heraldry classes (What's this Heraldry Thing?;
Court Etiquette (with Queen Brianna!); The History of Sacred Stone)!****
**· **We’ll have general art classes (Beginning Embroidery;
Introduction to Brewing; Simple Viking Wire-weaving)!****
** **
Next the competitions!****
**· ***Oops! Did I do that?:* This competition encourages everyone
to bring out that A&S project that just didn’t work the way you thought it
would. It can even be a complete failure. The idea is that everyone makes
mistakes and we learn from them. The categories of judging will be
Documentation, Authenticity, Complexity/Difficulty, Æsthetic Qualities &
Creativity. Did you notice that Workmanship isn’t included? That’s because
these are mistakes! Instead of the workmanship category we’ll have a new
category: “Funniest Story”! Let’s have some fun with this one!****
**· ***UnCompetition:* This one isn’t really a competition, but
instead it is a chance for you to get feedback on your projects. There will
be an open display where *anyone* can put *any*A&S project and the populace
will be able to fill out feedback forms for them. There is no judging,
winning, or pressure. Just pure feedback to help you with your art! Queen
Brianna is well-known for her love of A&S so you might be lucky enough to
receive a token from Her Majesty!****

Please come out and enjoy the Arts & Sciences at this fun filled family
event!
