[MR] weapons

for armoured combat? we dont know. what we do know is that defeating the
armour, per the sca standard, would take enormous force. while i do not
think many of us could hit a helm hard enough with a single shot to end a
fight the amount of padding under the maille armour standard would require a
blow with a real sword be on edge and delivered with a lot of force. but
the question, as i understood it, was if these swords would work for sca
sport combat. that was what i gave my opinion on. real fighting in the
times of the sca armour standard is an unknown. what is not arguable is
that folks didnt just die willy nilly and there was a lot of grappling which
changes the reality of what we do vs what they did.

<<< ive seen it in
thicker and heavier constructs and it simply doesnt hit hard enough in my
opinion. it would be awesome to have a sword that would last beyond three
practices and one tourney.

But how hard does it hit compared to a "steel" sword? The problem that it
doesn't hit has hard as a rattan sword may not the real problem. It may be
that the rattan sword hits harder than it should.
