Noble Friends,

On the BBC today is a brief piece about a pilgrim badge (or more correctly, "sign") found by a metal detectorist that will be donated to a Lancaster museum: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-20630397 . This badge is apparently of continental origin, and is of silver, indicating a wealthy devotee. Most pilgrim badges were pewter (the two stories say "a lead-alloy" and just plain "lead"; English pewter of this time was a lead/tin alloy).

Here's an earlier story about how the badge was found with a better photo: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-13873158 .

And here's a brief piece about St. Ursula: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=325 .

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Who Takes Great Interest in Pilgrimages
