Unto the Good Citizens of the Kingdom of Atlantia does Mistress
Genevieve d'Aquitaine, University Chancellor, send greetings,
As Chancellor I have received several requests to grant students
credit at learning opportunities outside of Atlantian events. I highly
recommend enjoying the hosts of classes offered at Pennsic War and
Gulf Wars, as well as those offered at Known World Symposia. You will
meet artisans from all over the Known World and gather valuable skills
to bring back home. I also know that many wonderful workshops are held
all over our Kingdom at local baronial, shire and canton meetings and
gatherings, as well as guild sponsored day long activities. These give
you the opportunities to learn from local artisans outside of the
hustle and bustle of an event, and can be an excellent way to test a
class before offering it at a Collegium, University, or Known World
event. These are valuable learning opportunities that all Atlantians
should take advantage of when available.
After careful consideration and consultation, I've decided that
University student credit can only be earned at official registered
Atlantian events published in the Acorn. Though out of kingdom events
provide classes, they are not Atlantian events on our calendar and
within our boundaries, and we are chartered in law as the University
of Atlantia. Though local and guild workshops offer valuable
opportunities, they are not hosted at our official events that adhere
to registration deadlines, distance restrictions between events,
publication of directions and contact information, and site
restrictions.
To clarify, classes offered at official registered Atlantian events
can request that their students receive University credit for
attendance. This includes Collegiums, Known World Symposiums offered
within Atlantian borders, and local events. Instructions and a roster
template can be found on the University of Atlantia FAQ page:
http://university.atlantia.sca.org/faq.php#collegium Credit is
contingent on the class organizer submitting the rosters to the
University Registrar so that the data can be entered into our system.
I hope all Atlantians continue to enjoy the wealth of learning
opportunities available all over our lands,
Mistress Genevieve d'Aquitaine
University Chancellor
