Greetings! Baron Torquil and I would like to take a quick moment to thank the staff of War of the Wings for the great job they all did!  Being one of the principle baronies put us in a unique position to see this event evolve over the past year from a concept to a reality.  What we saw was a well-run and drama free event that had perfect weather, plenty of things for everyone to do and plenty of places to shop! My barony had several new players and they were hooked at the word "go" (or should I say "Lay On")!  This was, for the folks in my group, their Pennsic.  And what a great way to go to war, with just a thousand of your closest friends to fight and party with.   The war provided excitement for my newest members and a revival of the spirit for many of my older folks.  I think we sometimes tend to forget all the fun to be had and focus on many of the little niggly things that can seem so important at the moment but truly aren't.  As I sat by the campfire in my encampment, listening to my fighters tell stories, singing songs that I thought I had forgotten, watching the faces of my fighters who had authorized earlier in the war and got to go on the field for the very first time, it was the best part of the day.  I could sit back and know that when we hear stories of how the SCA is losing members or there is strife within the Kingdom, I can see that for one night at least, there was a strong essence of what I have always enjoyed about the SCA - I could almost imagine myself in that time I so love!  We gained five new members for life at this event and they are going back to their friends with war stories and excitement to share.  It was the best marketing tool we could have had! For all of this and so much more - Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  The Barony of Raven's Cove has been enriched by your hard work and Torquil and I thank you all.
