Change on page 14: VII WEAPONS STANDARDS, C: Two-Handed Weapons, #3:
OLD VERSION OF RULE:
If the weapon has a head, it shall not be constructed of solely rigid materials. The head shall be firmly and securely attached to the haft. The head shall allow at least 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of progressive give between the striking surface and the weapon haft. Laminated or split rattan construction techniques do not require 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of progressive give, so long as their construction imparts striking characteristics similar to an unpadded weapon constructed of a single piece of rattan.
NEW VERSION OF RULE:
5. If the weapon has a head, it shall not be constructed of solely rigid materials. The head shall be firmly and securely attached to the haft. The head shall allow at least 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of progressive give between the striking surface and the weapon haft. Semi-rigid ultra-lightweight shaped foam heads and laminated or split rattan construction techniques do not require 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of progressive give, so long as their construction imparts striking characteristics similar to an unpadded weapon constructed of a single piece of rattan.
Reasoning: The shaped foam heads do not add any significant weight to the weapon and do not alter the striking force or impact characteristics in any fashion comparatively to a straight rattan weapon. These shaped heads add a lot to the authenticity of the weapon’s look and should be encouraged.
This means the By My Hand designed forms (and those made of like materials) can be used without any extra padding
