I'm not understanding.  Do you mean that there's nothing that prevents two best friends of the same sex but not "involved"  from serving together? 
 
Also, is there anything that prevents more than 2 people serving as Crown?  For instance, a pair of Kings touring the South while a Northern Queen administers the North as a kind of regent?
