only this has nothing to do with "same gender(ed) couples".  it has only to
do with same gender participants.  there is nothing to suggest that this
fixes any issue and nothing that states, or implies, that two people of the
same sex cannot enter themselves into consideration for a position (be that
the titular heads of a barony nor fighting in crown).

This is a very complicated issue. Balancing inclusion of same-gender couples
with prevention of marginalization of women is going to be tricky to
accomplish. I hope that all members of the Society read this article, take
to heart the chivalric aspects of protection of the disenfranchised, and
participate actively in the commentary periods specified by the Board. It's
going to take all of us to work this one out in an honorable and respectful
fashion, with a result that holds to the ethic of inclusion and fairness.
