It was late, the dark was deep
And in the barn lay sheep asleep,
When from the hill there came a cry
With cause to open woolly eyes.
From their perch such brutes descended
On a flock so ill-defended,
For our Knights had been upended
By many revelries that night before.
And while the flock was still in shock
The barn was breached, the locks were knocked,
And all the flock was quickly taken,
Before na’er Knight would stir or waken.
But all of this had woke a squire,
Who in turn would fetch his Sire,
With “Sir I felt you may desire-
To be informed; The barn’s on fire.”
And so it was, the barn was lit,
We gathered armor and gathered wits,
We lost our mugs and found our swords,
And marched down toward the Sheep-Raid horde.
We routed them down at the pass,
And pressed them back to the barn at last.
Now she’s ablaze and failing fast,
And they’re in there with our flock en’masse
Now we go to press the attack
They got our live live-stock, but we’ll get ‘em back
This is the end of the opening scene
To be continued-
Sheep-Raids Thirteen.
