[MR] "far north" vs was Re: Fall Coronation

Why does everyone address this as a problem "from far up north" as being a burden? Having lived in the "far Down South" for over 10 years, it can be just as long a drive from remote regions anywhere in the kingdom. This is no special burden to be releived from one that is not placed on another. Central just means it is equally painful to all but those in the center. There is no perfect solution and any solution will require compromises. We simply need to decide which factors are important and what compromises are acceptable. The current process leaves many compromises and is obviously not serving our best interest.

Atlantia is blessed with many great event planners and feast cooks. Giving them all a fair chance at contributing to kingdom events should be an important consideration. My concern over any single site is not that it will lead to 'cookie cutter" events although that is a possibility. But that it will lead to burnout of the groups closest and thier volunteers.

Having NOT ONE but several sites in various regions , oh say, 2 in each region , northern central and southern allows for variety, a reasonable transit time for folks sometimes but not always and competing but differing bids. These can be pre-approved kingdom event sites. If we have to pre-reserve then it goes in a fixed rotation. We have done a rotation for kingdom events before. in this case the site is preselected. Alternate bids allowed if they cover the loss of pre-reserving the other site. If you want kingdom events local get a site on the appoved list and put in a bid. I understand that this takes away some of the royal perogative in choosing thier coronation and crown sites, but it does not eliminate the choice of a prefered site it mearly means they should have at least 1 solid bid which is better than none, I am sure the crown and coronets would prefer to have multiple options but would also be relieved not to have to ask repeatedly just to get a single bid.

One of the concerns I have heard is attendance at Kingdom events is low. Having stability in the process shoulld encourage better planned events and as a result we could see an increase in attendance. Obviously if I know fall coronation is going to be in Maryland 6 months in advance it is easier to plan and budget for that trip than if I hear 4-6 weeks in advance.

I hope we can move forward to find a solution that serves the populous and the crown and that our kingdom is the better for the discussion and the solution.
