It also assumes being in the area to prep. Common practice with the feasts
I've helped with has been shopping and pre-cook the week prior. I don't
know how you would do that locally unless the head cook and a significant
number of their kitchen crew took time off before the event and stayed in a
hotel, which rather defeats the purpose of buying near the site to avoid the
increased gas costs of transporting everything down (or up as the case may
be). That doesn't mean it's completely and utterly unworkable--it just
means that there will be many groups, and many cooks, who couldn't pull
something like that off.
Another thing to keep in mind with central sites is that keeping kingdom
events central means that there will be people in the far north and far
south for whom even attending a kingdom event will never be a realistic
option.
