acch so true! I remember on lovel coronation spot with cabins....(every bed regged!) where the autocrat arrived on thursday morning to find the camp had begune renovations that week and had demolished a few cabins inpreparation to replace with upgraded ones and emptied a bunch more in preparation for demolition. By the time an alternate plan had been concieved, (this was befor cellfones were common) most of the people coming to stay on site were unavailabe so requesting they bring camping gear did not work out so well. It was still a fun an beatiul event but a lot of people had a rough time that week end .i can see where long distance autocrating would be scarey !

Even if you go the week before to an event site and verify that the
stoves and ovens in the kitchen are working, there is still no
guarantee that they will even still be there for the event. Doing this
through a delegate won't change this.

In addition, both Coronations and Crown Tournaments are usually
straight forward events. The same things that happened six months or a
year ago at Coronation will happen the next time. You already have a
pretty good idea of what is needed in the way of facilities and how to
handle such an event at that particular site from other events, and
possibly the same events, being held their previously.

Perhaps you might want to take a look at the SCA-EVENT=PLANNING
section of the Florilegium. There are a number of how-to discussions
there that would be of use to any event steward or event steward to
be. Some of the stuff in the SCA-CAMPING section might also be of use
for outside events.
