A "ford proper" is alternating blue and white (or white and blue) waves. On a red (gules) background, the top stripe should be white, for good contrast.

An alternate blazon (with more explicit details) would be: Gules, a base wavy barry wavy argent and azure.

This design is the baronial arms without the star or laurel wreath, so an image of the baronial arms should yield more pointers as to what it should look like.
