[MR] opinion on peerage...

i do not know of an example in atlantia in which "the entire order has says
no" and the induction to an order, on any level, has ever happened. ive
heard tales of this in other kingdoms but have no way of confirming that. i
do know of some order inductions in atlantia that seemed to have had little
support from the order in the past. my advice has always been that you and
i dont sign the check, the crown does. we simply have to honor that check.
if we do not respect the fact that he/she is now a knight/laurel/golden
dolphin/etc we disrespect the entire order. punishing an entire body of
folks because our personal opinion is in disagreement with the crowns will
is unfair.

but, it is solely the opinion of the crown as only the crown has the
authority to induct. that opinion can, and should, be effected by the
opinion of the 20% of order members that actually share their opinion during
pollings (a sad but true fact). but it is still simply the opinion of the
crown that matters. any monarchs that ive spoken to have a "magic number"
or percentage of support they require before putting pen to paper. i do.
in other words no matter how i feel about a candidate, good or bad, unless
they have X% i will not induct them even if i feel very supportive of that
person. there have also been folks that i did not care for that passed that
threshold that i inducted because of the advice the order gave me. others
have, and will, do it their own way. sca orders are creations of the sca as
are our crowns. is it perfect? of course not, but it does work very well

Can we say "solely the opinion of the Crown"?

If the entire order says no and the Crown says yes does that mean the member
is inducted? I can't believe that approach doesn't have repercussions - ie
going against the will of the order.

I would believe that the Crown has a veto but I don't think we can say any
polling order is solely the opinion of the Crown. That's why the polling
process is in place.
