Subject: Fw: Letter to Autocrats, Seneschals of our fair Kingdom

From the Deputy Earl Marshal of the Horse I bid you all a fond Greeting!

It is with this letter I would like to both explain to you the
state of affairs of the Kingdoms¹ Cavalry and beg for your understanding and
support. Over the last several months we have experienced a positive level
of support from the populace of our fair kingdom and I equate this with your
underlying support. You have seen us take the field in grand
style at Tournament of friends, War of the Wings and several other events.
Our level of play and presentation has increased despite the volatile
unstable economy. Gas prices have negatively affected us and unfortunately
it¹s impact to the cavalry becomes even more pronounced.
Most of us are part time horse enthusiasts where we have to work full
time to be able to feed and care for our ³investment². Our level of play
doesn¹t end on that Sunday when the event is over. Instead, we must still
return our steed to their pasture safely and continue to train and
practiceŠas a result we have very little capital (money) to be able to
devote to several events through-out the year. Granted in the past, we have
enjoyed being included by our individual cantons and barony¹s activities
however now we simply can¹t support every event. We want toŠ but our pocket
book tells us no.
In the past few months as a result of trying to support these smaller
events we have learned that low numbers and limited attendance have become
the norm. Our activities including horses will be better served by having
four equestrian events that we, as a cavalry, can travel and compete against
each other within our discipline. Having 6-12 horses at an event will
enhance the activities versus observing two performing the same activities.
As a result, we would like to propose having four to six events that the
cavalry as a whole would support. The possibility for increasing to more
events will happen when more horses and riders become members of the
cavalry. At the moment our present mindset is to support a Northern
Equestrian Event (summer), Two Central Equestrian Events (Tournament of
Friends-Spring) and (War of the Wings-Fall) and a Southern Event (winter).
At the moment the idea of four-to six major equestrian events has a great
deal of focus, boasts overwhelming support from most of the members of the
cavalry.
It is through an explanation to you of our position and continued
support on this matter that I can ensure both support and success of our
 cavalry.
     Yours in Service
 Nem
