Greetings all!

My schedule for the classes fell victim to my accidentally deleting my
access to my own computer. (I couldn't begin to tell you how I did it
but my husband stayed up until 2am fixing it) So, I have an overview of
the event and I will try to post an actual schedule by tomorrow. The
enamelling and lampworking stations will open early and continue all
day. The mosaics class will be at 10 am. The station will be open
and there will be another mosaics class later in the evening.

The Medieval Heraldic Glass class has cancelled. Mistress Alianor has
added a class which will be an overview of stained glass class.

The format of the event is that we will have several "stations" set up
with a particular type of glassworking at that station. We will be in
one large hall and people can move from station to station for classes
or to observe. We will also have a library table for books and
discussion/lecture classes. Feast is simple Tavern fare (brats and
onions, bread, salad, dessert) and will not be a "formal" feast to allow
everyone the most time to continue classes into the evening. We have
the building until midnight and the late classes will allow more hands
on work with hot kilns. When we held this event the year before last
we tailored the event/classes to the student who arrived. If we needed
more basic classes then we did more beginner. If we had people who
already had experience, we stepped it up to the next level. The event
tends to be small but full of good hands-on instruction time (which is
not always possible at University which closes too early for hot
kilns). The Jewelry/Crafts station is not specific to glass but some of
our local people who do various jewelry crafts offered to teach a
variety of classes.

Safety tips: If possible please wear natural fiber clothing and closed
toe shoes. Avoid melty man-made fabrics and choose sleeves that are
short or that can be pulled back or tied out of the way. If you have
long hair you may want to bring a hair clip/tie to be able to pull your
hair back away from open flames. If you have safety glasses please
bring them.

If you have glass tools and supplies (your own kit) that you would like
to bring and set up, please do. The more the merrier. If you have
jewelry/beading supplies you may want to bring those and join the
jewelry station. If you have books you would like to bring, we will
have a library table set up. (Please mark your books with your name!)
The workshop format of this event will allow for more classes if you
show up and want to teach something we can add it in.

Students can receive University of Atlantia class credit for all formal
classes at the Symposium.
