Noble friends,

Britain is gearing up for the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta
(forced on King John in 1215). The BBC has several interesting stories
about this great document. So you thought you knew all about the MC from
school? Read and watch. It isn't all what you thought.

"King John and Magna Carta" explores the lead-up to and signing of the
charter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/middle_ages/magna_01.shtml .

Salisbury Cathedral displays the best copy of the Magna Carta. See it in
pictures at:

.

Lincoln plans a new visitors center to display theirs:

Here's a brief, and amusing, two-minute summary clip on the Magna Carta:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11744827 .

And of course there's the new movie IRONCLAD, all about bad King John.
How bad? Hear what actor Paul Giamatti has to say about him at:

Kind regards,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
