Unto the gentle populace of mighty Atlantia, greetings! It is a glorious day
when Atlantia's fair citizens are recognized for their deeds, be they
courteous, artful, helpful, or martial. It is important that those
recognitions be recorded properly, and that is my job as your Clerk of
Precedence.

Recently I have noticed a trend in awards being given to the gentle by their
modern name, particularly children but also adults. Modern names should
never be published in connection with awards. This is both a matter of
privacy and protocol. Awards are given to the persona - not the person. We
need the modern name information for cross-referencing to make certain that
we have the correct "person", but the award should be connected to the
persona's name, not the person's name.

Please be certain that you give an SCA name when you recommend someone for
an award, and heralds, please be even MORE certain that you have both the
SCA name and the modern name when submitting your court report.

As always, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Clerk of Precedence, Kingdom of Atlantia
