Greetings to the Tavern,

Since there was a question earlier today about how things happen and how
decisions are made, I thought I would take the opportunity to: 1) Thank
Mistress Molly for pointing the particular question to the Seneschelette and
2) Remind everyone that answers to these kinds of questions can be found in
our Society documents and Kingdom law and policies.
http://www.sca.org/docs/index.html and http://law.atlantia.sca.org/
respectively.

Most everything that we do has some kind of guideline, policy or rule
associated with it. If all else fails, you can always go to our local
branch offficer, who if they can't answer the question, will bump it up to
the regional and if the regional doesn't know the answer (which is
unlikely), the question will land in front of the Kingdom officer. Yes,
there are escalation points above that but the vast majority of things are
handled in Kingdom.

This forum, although wonderful for exchanging event information, A&S links,
and other general SCA/period information, is one of the worst places to get
any kind of accurate information in regards to what is really happening in
the Kingdom and why or why not a decision was made the way it was. Quite
honestly it is like getting your daily dose of national news excxlusively
from Stephen Colbert or the Daily Show.

If you have a question about policy, process, or a decision, ask - but
please ask someone who may know the correct answer. Ask your local officers
(Seneschal, Exchequer, Marshal, etc) and follow the chain up when
necessary. If all else fails, ask your Monarches. They don't bite and They
are here to serve you.

Regards,
Alesia
