<<< Still considering myself a newcomer, I know I get extremely
disheartened and discouraged reading many of the posts on this list
(for the most part, they are exceedingly negative). And, it isn't as
simple as "deleting", because the digests contains so many messages.
Not to mention, trying to reading them on my "smart phone" is
cumbersome because they aren't truncated and often run on and on and
on and ... but I digress :).>>>

Often, because people often include the whole message they are
replying to, I do find it difficult to separate on the digest which
are the grains of interest from all the chaff and as you mention, you
can't simply delete a message or a message thread on the digest that
has out-lived its use.

On the otherhand, for some kingdoms that have separate announcement-
only lists, I am banned from sending my monthly Florilegium article to
those lists, so I am biased against such lists. Unless things are
watched carefully and planned for, sometimes the creation of an
announcement-only list, increases the list bandwidth, since you get
one message on the announcement-only list and then another copy on the
regular list.

<<< That is one of the reasons I originally joined the MR, looking
for a "period" tent (though that is but a mere dream because the
prices requested FAR exceed my budget ... if I'd only know - lol).>>>

Only known what?

A period-style tent can often be made fairly cheaply. Different styles
and the size of the tent will have a big effect upon the price of a
tent. If you want a big, flashy pavilion, commercially made, that is a
lot more expensive than buying some canvas painter's drop clothes and
sewing a common soldier's tent. The cheapest way is to buy the canvas
in bulk and then you and some friends sew it together. If you check
the STRUCTURES section of the Florilegium, You can a lot of info on
buying canvas and materials in bulk.

Another way, depending upon how much you will be using your tent, and
in what weather, is to make of buy a canvas roof and then make the
walls out of thinner, and cheaper, cotton sheeting.

Tents can be adapted or chosen to fit all types of travel vehicles.
