[MR] Newcomers and courtesy

Unto any Newcomers who may still be subscribed to this list,

Welcome. This is not the SCA. The SCA happens at events where we can gather
and see each others' friendly faces, and welcome new ones. I recommend
joining the list for your local group, and coming to activities and events.
You will find that the tales of mean laurels, brutish knights, slave driving
pelicans, and snobby royals are gross exaggerations. We can sometimes be
pre-occupied with our own duties and tasks, but please do not think us
intentionally rude. If you are actually yelled at, it is likely a safety
issue. Do not hesitate to ask questions, help out and get involved, for it
is the best way to meet others and enjoy this game of ours.

Unto the gripers and rudemen of this list,

Please do not write anything here that you would be embarrassed for your
grandmother to overhear, nor anything you would not say to someone directly.
There have been some rude and many often false things written here. Respect
and Courtesy starts with each of us and should start here.

More directly, I address those who would disparage our Crowns, either the
institution or those currently holding the position. If you think that King
Michael and Queen Seonaid only care about regalia protocols, clearly you
have not been to one of Their courts or curia sessions. Newcomers are
welcomed and given a finely cast token to remember the day in hopes that
they return. Care is given with each award that the recipient knows their
contributions are greatly appreciated. The laws, policies, and customs of
our kingdom are being reviewed and discussed to update them, to hopefully
improve our events, improve our game, and to move us forward. While this is
currently being done by King Michael and Queen Seoniad, these are goals of
all who sit, and have sat, the Atlantian throne, which is not as easy at it
may look.

If you have a concern about Their actions or policies, please contact Them
directly about it. Reach out to Them at events. They are human and
reasonable, please behave likewise. We will never all agree on all topics,
but know that Their Majesties' intentions are only to improve Atlantia.
There is no one right path, but that doesn't mean that the current path is
wrong.
