Gentle Cousins,
I apologize in advance for the short notice on this but the Shire of Cathanar is 
holding a demo on MCAS Cherry Point to support their Summer Reading Program.  
We're looking for fighters of all types, A&S Enthusiasts with things to display, 
and anyone else who wants to come and partake in the mirth and merrymaking.  The 
site is dry.  It is at the Shady Grove picnic area.  Please contact me off list 
if you are interested so I can provide you with directions as well as contacting 
the Base Gate Guards to get you on the access list.  Be sure to bring License, 
Registration, and Proof of Insurance.  

Weapons (the real kind, not heavy or fencing weapons), fireworks, or anything 
else you think might be questionable on a military base are prohibited.
Also, for what it's worth, the librarian used to be stationed in Germany and did 
something similar there years ago but it had left a very poor taste in his mouth 
because of the ignoble and unchivalrous behaviour of the people doing the demo.  
He didn't go into detail, but just keep in mind that the main target group of 
the summer reading program is youths ages 4-16 so it goes without saying to keep 
it PG.

Just want to let everyone know that the Demo is posted all over the base as well 
as on the billboards there. The posters are nice with pictures and it reads: 


A Medieval Times Picnic
11:00 am - 12:00 pm

SCA WEapons Demonstration: Watch as local members of ther SCA wearing knightly 
garb perform medieval style single combat for your entertainment! and it has 
serveral pictures on it of knights.
Any ideas, we are the morning entertainment!
