Hence the whole, playing at Kingdom, Principality, Barony or Shire/Canton level.
Shires have lots of good people doing lots of things, but the folks aren't seen because they don't play at the other group levels.
We need to be better at recognizing those who play at the less than landed group size.
But that is also why there is the recommendation by anyone for anyone to any peerage or award...

Good points Seanne,
But unfortunately there is a bit of politics you have to play as well.
yes if a person is well rounded, its good, but unfortunately its not enough.
I have seen and known peoples playing for years and even though they dont ever ask for anything,or expect anything,
they get nothing.why?
Because if that person doesnt have a title of such,or knows anyone with a title and plays around people and gets looked at
for the good things they do,they dont get seen.
and if they dont play around people with titles and such they fall by the wayside.
I have been saying this time and time again when this subject comes up,but its true.
even if they dont want or expect anything if they dont rub elbows with people who surround themselves with
the "political" game, they will not get seen.
its harsh, but true.I know I am not the only one who thinks this.
But it is good to know that if people play the game how they wish and have fun.
thats what this game is all about. in most cases anyway.
in service,
Torgar

There will always be thgose whoi feel they should be a peer because they did something for someone at one time or another,
just as there will always be those fighters who can pummel everyone and think they should be knights,
There will also always be those who think since I have been a meber XX years I should be a peer.
An ancient Knight and his Lady Laurel once told me several things about the peerages;
Peers are not made they arrive and are recognized
To be a peer act as a peer
The dream is not for the awards it's for your enjoyment.
Okay so the last is a bit hokey. But the first two seem spot on.
Peerage awards have loose requirements so we can elevate and recognize those who make the game better for all.
by the way everyone I play this game with can fight competently, create a scroll or at least use some calligraphy, play chess, dance a step or two, perform at feast or court, field herald, blazon a device or two, sew some basic garments and construct basic armor and has a pretty good handle on their persona historyu, lineage and charactor.
Maybe I just got lucky ...... Naw that's what everyone who plays can do after a few years...
