if someone does not violate kingdom law the kingdom seneschal has not
authority, or right, to get involved in matters between parties. if someone
is fabricating information to attack someone in the real world it would be a
matter for the actual authorities. regardless, real world issues do not
fall under the purview of the sca or its officers. blame cannot be put on
the kingdom seneschal, or any other officer for that matter, for personality
conflicts or petty behavior on the part of others. one persons villain is
very often another persons hero.
yes, there are people who are, or simply perceived as, bullies. most of the
time it is because their opinion doesnt jive with the "victims" or the
"victims" supporters. rarely is it a simple case of someone just being mean
spirited and intent on driving someone away. again, this kind of personal
conflict isnt something an officer can, or should, be involved in. peer
pressure, support for those mistreated, and above all communication (honest,
forthright, meaningful) are the best tools for dealing with conflict. the
latter being something most people fail at terribly and the cause of a lot
of hurt feelings. folks need to learn to speak to, not about, each other.
its so easy to agree to disagree but people have to be willing to understand
that they simply disagree for that to happen. that understanding cannot
happen without discussions.
works most of the time. not always....... but most of the time.
