Seen Althea officinalis down in the Santee swamp. Uh...you might need a boat. And someone who has a sense of direction. But it's pretty plentiful there. 
 
Also, pretty sure I've spotted it here in town (Columbia), off the Saxe Gotha exit off 77. How one would get down there to it I have not explored. And I've just seen it from the road, so no absolute ID on that. But I'm pretty good at educated guesses while squinting through the window of a moving car. 
 
Always thought about digging one up and trying to make marshmallows out of it, but never did. Plant's way too pretty. Can't bring myself to do it.
