Her Grace wrote exceptionally well. I will try in my small not so subtle way.

Courage for its own sake
Honor for its own sake
Courtesy for its own sake
Duty for its own sake

Even simpler keep your words soft and sweet. Someday you may have to eat them

See I told you I do not write as well as Her Grace. I am far more pointed.

I agree entirely.
It occurs to me that the reactions I'm getting may result from the responders thinking that I'm advocating "going after"
the "offender" in this specific instance.
I most decidedly am NOT. That incident is history, and as several respondants have pointed out, the details are lost in
the confusion already.
Her Highness calls on all who read her message to bear in mind the customs on which our Society is based. Well and good,
I'm confident that most of the people who read Her Highness's letter will indeed do so - including the person to whom she
refers, if they happen to be on this list.
But people sometimes forget their manners, or perhaps were never taught them. It is in cases like this that I still believe
it to be the duty of anyone who witnesses - directly and personally witnesses - such behaviour to gently admonish the person
about the harm they may be causing. If a person doesn't care, well, the cause is lost. But if it was a lapse or a case of
ignorance or carelessness, a gentle word may save a person from committing such solecisms in the future.
Your servant aye
Donal
