Unto Your Majesties Brian and Brianna, Your Highnesses Michael and
Seonaid, Your Excellencies Geldemar and Etain, the Triton Principal
Herald, the Atlantian College of Heralds, the populace of Atlantia and
all who read this missive:
Greetings from Lord Cian mac Cellacháin hUí Dublaich, Gordian Knot
Pursuivant herald, and herald of record for the Baronial Court from the
Nottinghill Coill Baronial Birthday in February, AS 45.
At the celebration of Nottinghill Coill's Baronial Birthday, held in the
Barony of Nottinghill Coill on February 26, 2011, also known as Anno
Societatus 45, Their Excellencies Geldemar and Etain, Baron and Baroness
of Nottinghill Coill, did process into court, heralded by Baron Lucien
de la Rochelle. A Baronial Court was opened, and Their Excellencies did
welcome the populace. Following remarks by Their Excellencies, the
Baronial Herald did ask for a moment of Their Excellencies' time. After
speaking privately with Their Excellencies, Baron Lucien did then
address the populace, speaking of the role of Baronial Herald, and his
personal involvement over the years serving the Barony. Baron Lucien
did then announce that his tenure as Baronial Herald was up, and it was
time for him to step down. With Their Excellencies permission, Master
Bran Trefonnen, Triton Principal Herald of the Kingdom of Atlantia was
invited into court. Lord Cian mac Cellacháin hUí Dublaich was summoned
into court, and upon approval from Triton and Their Excellencies, did
take the Baronial Herald’s Oath of Office. Baron Lucien then handed
over each item of the Baronial Regalia, explaining the significance of
the tabard, the book, and the staff. Lord Cian then took his place
behind Their Excellencies as the Baronial Herald, and Baron Lucien was
allowed to join his wife amongst the populace. Vivats were called forth
in honor of Baron Lucien's many years as an excellent Baronial Herald,
and the hall shook with loud cheers!
Their Excellencies had Lady Cyndra of Loch summoned before them. Words
of praise for Lady Cyndra's work in the arts and sciences were spoken,
and Their Excellencies did then award Lady Cyndra the Award of the
Golden Knot.
Their Excellencies did then invite Their Cousins, Baron Thylacinus and
Baroness Adendra, Baronage of Hidden Mountain, to come forth into Their
Court. Words of friendship were exchanged, and Their Excellencies
Hidden Mountain presented a gift basket of goodies to Their Excellencies
Nottinghill Coill. A brief discussion about an "Iron Chef" competition
between the two Baronies was held, with details to be worked out later.
Their Excellencies Hidden Mountain did then retire back to their seats.
Their Excellencies called for Their retainers to come before Them. Lord
Felipe de Pamplona, Tamura of Cyddlain Downs, Baroness Delia the
Flammable, Lord Elphin ap Daffyd, Lady Irmgard Hasenschlaf, Lady Isolda
Jourdan, and Virginia of Wolfholt came forward to be thanked by Their
Excellencies for their time and service to assist Them. The retainers
were then each presented with a beautiful mug created by Her Excellency,
each one bearing the knot that is the symbol of our Barony.
The newcomers were invited forward to receive a welcome and a token to
commemorate their visit from Baroness Etain.
Tamura of Cyddlain Downs was called back into court, where His
Excellency thanked her in particular for her efforts as one of His
primary retainers. In appreciate for the tough job that she has keeping
up with Him, Baron Geldemar did present her with the Baron's Award of
Excellence.
The Poeta Atlantia, Etienne Le Mons d'Anjou, was called forth into court
to inspire the gathered populace with his poetic tribute to the Barony
of Nottinghill Coill and her people.
Their Excellencies did then have Lady Milicent Shively and Lord Donal
ONeal, Autocrats for Nottinghill Coill Baronial Birthday, come forward
to address the populace and announce the winners of the various
tournament that occurred.
The current Baronial Champions were individually called forth from
behind the thrones to be thanked for their service to the Barony, and
they were released from service. Each champion was inducted into the
Order of the Coill's Champions. These honorable individuals are:
Lady Caitríona inghean Ghiolla Phádraig - Equestrian
Lord Tor Olafsson - Archery
Lord Felipe de Pamplona - Rapier
Lord Draco of Brockore Abbey - Armored
Baroness Beatrice von Staufen - Arts and Sciences
Lady Caitríona, having been named Equestrian Champion only fairly
recently, was not released from service, but was asked to continue for
the next year.
Their Excellencies did then summon forth those gentles whom They wished
to elevate to the status of Baronial Champion for the coming year. Each
person was offered the position, given the appropriate regalia to keep
safe, and charged to assume their rightful place behind the Baronial
Thrones. The new Champions of Nottinghill Coill are:
Lady Caitríona inghean Ghiolla Phádraig - Equestrian (Continuing)
Lord Jean-Claude de Lyon- Archery
Lady Ariel Benne Douw - Rapier
Lord Wilhelm Leopard der Schwarze - Armored
Lady Milicent Shively - Arts and Sciences
Lady Marie-Helene of the New Forest was called before Their
Excellencies, where she did present Them with a gift for the Baronial
Birthday. In keeping with the nautical theme of the event, the gift was
a beautiful wooden birdhouse in the shape of a sailing ship. His
Excellency was most excited at the fact that it had a cannon on board.
Lady Irmgard Hasenschlaf was summoned into court to be presented a gift
from Their Excellencies. During the tragedy that befell Lady Irmgard
and her family in the loss of their house several months previously, one
item that was lost was a custom clay pitcher that Baroness Etain had
crafted for Lady Irmgard. As Lady Irmgard and her family are in the
prcoess of getting a new house, Her Excellency had crafted a replacement
pitcher and presented it to her as a housewarming gift - ironically in a
heater box.
Finally, Their Excellencies did have the Order of the Gordian Knot
called before them. As They gazed upon the assembled Order, They
noticed that there was someone missing, and They tasked Their A&S
Champion to retrieve that someone. Lady Milicent proceeded to the rear
of the hall, and brought her husband, Lord Donal Oneal before Their
Excellencies. After speaking of Lord Donals many and often quiet
contributions to the well being of the Barony, They did induct him into
the Order of the Gordian Knot.
There being no further business, Their Excellencies did close Their
Baronial Court.
This account is accurate to the best of my knowledge and complete to the
