Greetings Atlantia and Windmasters Hill,
As you all are aware, Ymir is just 9 days away. I wanted to send out one
final informational e-mail before the event. For the Event Staff, I should be
on site no later than 2 PM. For everyone else, the site officially opens at 5
PM. The weather looks promising; but I don’t want to Jinx it, so I won’t
present a forecast. Plus Ymir is historically know for having all 4 seasons
equally represented on Saturday so please plan appropriately.
Don’t forget to drink water, Morwenna is my Chirurgeon an you know what that
means, she is every where and knows if you have been drinking water or not.
For those who are assisting with the pick up and load out of equipment from
the Baronial Shed, we need to meet at the shed at 9AM, please plan
appropriately.
This is a reminder for those who are bringing additional items to support the
event, radios, chairs/thrones, pavilions, feast gear etc. please do not forget
these items as they will be critical to the event.
Feast is sold out, cabins are sold out. Plenty of Tenting space left.
Unlimited day trip space left.
For anyone who is not yet aware, their Royal Majesties and their Royal
Highnesses of Atlantia and our very special guests their Royal Majesties from
the East, Gryffith FitzWilliam and Queen Aikaterine FitzWilliam will be gracing
us with their attendance at our event.
We have lots of activities planned for Ymir, highlights include, a meet and
greet social at 7 PM on Friday night with Dancing hosted by Lady Alexandra
Scott. On Saturday we have several A&S competitions including a persona,
triathlon, from the ground up, as plundered, scribal, Bardic and poeta.
Several classes on Saturday including How to dress like a Viking. Oh and lest
I forget the most important activities, lots of fighting on Saturday featuring
an Armored and Rapier Tournament, and Armored Bear Pit, a Rapier Tavern Brawl,
possibly a Cut and Thrust Demo, Youth Combat and Target Archery. Thrown Weapons
are questionable at this point. We also have some children’s activities planned
for Ymir.
Lady Rebecca the Contrary is providing a free lunch Day Board for any who wish
to partake, she has welcomed any one wishing to bring a food donation or try out
new recipes to contribute.
Baron Bardulf Rauen will be taking free photos of people in Garb for those who
wish to participate.
We will have a populace tent set up for anyone who wants to use it, all are
welcome.
Where I could still use some assistance for Ymir:
I still need a Pelican, Knight and Rose to speak at the Peer discussions planned
for 1PM of Saturday. So far I have a Laurel. If anyone is interested please
contact me directly.
I believe that we could use some more help working the gate and New Comer’s
tables. I believe that both of my staff members in this area have sent out
requests for support. Please contact these staff members if you can help.
We could use some help on Friday moving some beds around and again on Sunday
moving them back. If you have the time, your assistance would be much
appreciated.
In closing:
I am one person, and I know that I can’t think of nor can I do everything.
Through the last 3 months of planning and preparing for Ymir I have received
lots of advice and assistance from, far too many to mention. I would like to
send out a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped so far and will help in
the coming weeks.
I ask that all who attend Ymir XXXVI do two things, have fun and keep an open
mind. The fun part is really up to you, get involved in the many activities
that we have planned. For the open mind part, I and many of my staff are new at
performing the duties that we are performing at this event; more than 50% of my
staff is performing their role for the very first time. One of the benefits of
“New Blood” is new ideas. Please don’t expect everything to be just like it is
at every other event that you have attended. We have gone out of our way to
make this year’s event a little different from those that have come before.
Take the good with the different.
See you at Ymir!
