Thank you, Mi' Lord, for your congratulations. To answer your question about the term hand-bow, it is usually used to describe something that is not a crossbow. Often in competitions the categories are separated into hand-bow and crossbows. Within the category of hand-bow you will find recurves, longbows, horse-bows, etc. Occasionally you'll see competitions split further into separate categories of crossbow, recurve, period bow, longbow or any variation of those.

One point I'm curious about, having only dabbled in archery so far myself.
What precisely is a "hand bow"? I've heard people refer to recurve bows,
long bows, and crossbows, but I don't recall ever hearing that term before.
