Just a reminder. As far as I know the class is still on.

As students will really only be using colored dirt, (my name for ocher,
sienna and the like) I'll open the class up to teenagers that are
accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.

If an out of town person really needs it, there is an air mattress I can put
in my partially decorated guest bedroom. There is space for others that want
to crash on the floor. RSVP only for that.

Subject: Period Pigments Class

I will be teaching a class on how to paint with period pigments.

For demonstration purposes, I will be using mostly earth based pigments
(colored dirt).

Period Vermillion will be available as long student knows and agrees to use
Arsenic sulfate. PAINTING WITH THIS IS NOT REQUIRED. Be prepared to sign a
waiver.

Titanium white will be substituted for lead white.

Binders include gum Arabic, egg yellow, and glair.

No experience necessary.

No drawing necessary.

Class piece will be from the Macclesfield Psalter. You may take the piece
home if you want to add the gold leaf.

If you have a current scroll or a specific one in mind, you are welcome to
bring it. All painted scrolls are for you to give where you desire.

All supplies provided. Bring small brushes that have never painted with oil
or acrylic if you really love and want to use your own brushes. There is no
charge for this class. Small donations will be appreciated but not mentioned
or solicited in the class (supplies cost between $2 and $3.) Do not worry
about this if you so desire. I will not think badly of you if you don't.

Painter's smock or apron highly encouraged. This is not a garbed event. Wear
clothes that will not suffer badly if paint that never comes out gets on
them.

If you are allergic to Latex disposable gloves, please bring what you would
rather use instead.

This class will not include calligraphy.
