Noble friends,
The BBC had this very interesting story and video clip about a nearly
complete house which was recently uncovered during modern construction:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-16066680 . While the
Pendle witch trials were only 400 years ago, the house itself may date
to our later period. Here is a Wikipedia story on the witches:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendle_witches .
Walling up cats has nothing directly to do with witches; it was a common
superstition to protect against evil spirits. Other mummified cats have
been found in old English buildings:

a very cool pub, said the be the smallest in England.]

This is pretty grim stuff, so I'll stop there.
Kind regards,
Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
