a lot from them I actually know how hard it is to hand cut dovetails
and to *make* your own hide glue >>>

I have bits and pieces of info on making and using period glues,
including hide glue, in this Florilegium file in the CRAFTS section:
glues-msg (33K) 8/ 4/99 Medieval glues and pastes. Recipes.
http://www.florilegium.org/files/CRAFTS/glues-msg.html

However, these are just short messages and I'm sure there is some
hands-on knowledge learned out there the hard way. I'd love it if one
of you woodworkers would write up an article on making and using hide
glues and/or other period glues that you might have used in your
woodworking.

If you've learned a bit about making and using hide or other glues in
your woodwork, please write it up and pass it on. You don't have to be
a Peer, but I have heard that helping pass on what you've learned this
way and the word acclaim you can achieve can help if you are pursuing
a Laurel.

My standard policy is that the copyright remains with the author and I
will accept updates at any time.

Thanks,
   Stefan
