Interesting. I know I've seen medieval illuminations of folks on
stilts. Probably entertainers, if I remember right.
Sounds like the topic is just weird enough to be worth a Florilegium
article. Unfortunately, the material in the link above is already
copyrighted and a lot of it is post-period. Anyone interested in
doing some more research on stilts, and writing up an article for the
Florilegium? Might make an interesting A&S project as well.
Since SCA combat rules say you can't hit below the knee, would that
give you a big advantage if you were fighting on three foot stilts? I
guess that might not be an advantage against a spearman, maybe against
a mace.
