Greetings All!

I've posted this to a mundane Filk group mailing list as I see the
direct crossover regularly. Please feel free to post this on what
other lists you feel proper, though I do apologize if anyone gets
this more than once.

I am Mithgiladan the Herald, in the East, and not long ago I announced
a gaming competition where the prizes were fairly substantial
gemstones. A bard on the Bardic Circle asked why not for Bardic arts as well?

Good question!

The first answer is that my two year quest to generate more interest
in medieval gaming in the Eastern Southern Region has had some level
of success despite many reversals with finding homes for my
competitions. But they *finally* are about to come to their
climactic Grand conclusion(giving away some 80+ stones and three hand
made game boards) and I need to answer that good question. For all
the arts need to be encouraged.

To this end, I will been attending the final week of Pennsic this
year after long absence. And I would like to hold a Known World
Bardic Challenge. Having never done anything this large or at
Pennsic before >:)

I had first thought it would be good to hold in my home group's
encampment, but my messages to our Seneschal were responded to with
comments about how he already had too much to deal with.

So I would like advice on everything from "how to", to "where and
when during the event" to what stones you folks would like to win?
(Note: I do not deal in Diamonds except black ones, nor do I deal in
Any type of stone that can be considered a 'Blood Stone')

Who should I reach out to in terms of other groups as I also
investigate who to talk to on the Pennsic Staff?

My vision is a competition that focuses on all original and popular
musical pieces that are either of a period style or are of a more
contemporary style but celebrate the spirit of the SCA.

Please step forward and let me know your thoughts.

Mithgiladan the Herald
