National data bouy center...  the US has data bouys out there.. you can
click each one and it will tell you the wind, wave ht and pressure.  I
watched Irene go past the one out of Charlotte Amalie, BVI's... at might
night last sunday the wave ht was 16 feet by 3 am it was down to 9ft.
Watched the one off the caymans go offline when wilma passed..
