surprise. About 3 hours ago. The moderately highwinds and the soaking rains,
made conditions just right for s90 yr old tree to loose its grip on the world,
go over, rip out the overhead tension wires ,AND COMPLETELY BLOCK OUR AVENUE
,2 lanes in either direction that fed half a block, onto a major highway.
Branched from a tree in our yard have broken off but no caused any
problems.good thing i had charged my portable jumpstarters and gotten a supply
or charcoal. How is everybody else?from my phone

It's been a long time since I've done it, but in the 1964 hurricane in NYC my
scout troop went out with its saws and axes and cut the center part of the
trunk of downed trees and pushed the center part to the curb, thereby allowing
traffic to move. (It 's not so easy with just bow saws, but few people have
long crosscut saws these days, and most homeowners' chain saws are too short.)
Eventually, the sanitation dept, or the dept of public works came along and
removed the whole tree.

Much more recently, I have had to help dig out my block from snow storms.
Again, this allows traffic to move.

Just heard the eye of the storm will hit Ocean City MD almost directly about
midnight, a couple of hours ahead of schedule.
