Actualy my lady, with all due respect I have _family_ all over the eastern
side of the state as well as close freinds and was point in fact in Faynam,
kinston and new bern within the past month... sorry to burst your bubble..
I also deliver boats up the AICW.. I know the area intimately...two of my
husbands were stationed at LeJeune and I with them. When was the last time
you ran the Great Dismal Swamp Canal?? I wasn't aware that I should be
posting my whereabouts when I post, I shall remedy that post haste.. my home
base is st pete.. but I can be anywhere posting that is the beauty of having
a netbook and an aircard..
Your snarky reply is based on my political skepticism and your liberal bent
no doubt.. watch the rest of the gop pack stumble all over themselves to
get photo ops showing how much they "care". I have a lot of skepticism for
either side of the political fence... The ONLY reason Katrina was such a big
news item was the bodies floating in the water.. I have a long standing
loathing of the press and the way they handle hurricanes. It is a one day
news event, maybe two..then the msm news media and the politicians move on
to the newest event.. meanwhile those affected have to spend a LONG time
dealing with the issue.. a longer awareness would be thrilling to see. But
it won't happen..
I am most curious, exactly how many hurricanes of the cat 3/4/or 5 have you
lived thru and or had family in... I grew up on the gulf and atlantic
coasts... my mom's family starts at gulf shores alabama and goes thru and
past NOLA they came there in 1702.. for them hurricanes are just a part of
life. Dads side has been in Low Country SC since 1696...my first hurricane
was Gracie in 1955. By accident I got the dubious joy of Hugo and at 18 I
was in pascagoula visiting my cousin Alan when Camille hit.. and then there
was the stuff in 2004 and a lot in between.
Hurricanes and land tend to have similar effects on similar types of land..
NC doesn't have the miles of swamp that La does.. but it does have low lying
barrier islands that will be swamped and eroded. NC has a long history of
being hit with Big Storms... just as my home base has a long history of
being missed..
MY comment about FEMA has to do with having done the FEMA financial
process... so I do speak with some knowledge and that has no state
particulars, it is a federal program.
I have lived without electrcity both post hurricane and via a sailboat. and
no a/c too... when people are stressed at having seen their home trashed and
are not thinking right.. who can at such a time... having the little bit I
mentioned is a godsend esp the hot water and thermos tricks..
As for my insurance comments.. I have cousins still in litigation over
Katrina and no homes.. I had a moving company steal my silver and had I not
had photos I would not have gotten i replaced... I forgot to add.. put the
time and date stamp on the photos on.. to prove the date and time the
condition you are recording shows...
I thought about sending this privately but since the lady chose to chastise
me in public.....
Good thing I know that great people live in eastern NC. After that snarky
commnet one might wonder. oh yeah one more point... I was born at womack
and spent my first three yrs of life living in the officers quarters at Pope
Airfield.. so technically I am a tarheel now aren't I... LMAO...
Ya'll keep your powder dry... My lady stay safe..
Aine, who has lots of good things to say but some ppl only seem to remember
the bad things...

Love never claims, it ever gives; love never suffers, never resents, never
revenges itself. Where there is love there is life; hatred leads to
