To add to what Gerita posted afterwards, the mazes are the work of one man,
an archaeologist (I believe) who could often be seen on his hands and knees
wherever there was pavement, knee pads on and hands covered in chalk dust
while he worked. ALL of the mazes he drew are one-dimensional copies of
medieval mazes. He usually adds their source local to the edge of the maze
so folks can look them up later.
He's been doing this for about three years, now. There was a (past) Pennsic
mayor who tried to get enough funding to support a full maze with real
walls, but was unable to. Undeterred, our maze-drawer has continued to
delight with new designs every year. I really loved the sundial. Especially
watching people use it in the food court. :)
