Respectfully, I disagree. The Merry Rose has been rolling along for over 10 years and it's managed fine without a moderator.

That sounds like a nice setup, but what you describe is simply not the Merry Rose. It is and always has been a free-wheeling, unmoderated discussion about Atlantian SCA and SCA-related topics. I rather like that we have a place where we can discuss topics freely without the fear of an arbitrary banhammer. If this is not to someone's liking, they can feel free to hit thr delete key or unsubscribe, especially with the advent of the "announcements" list.

The real solution, in my opinion, is that everyone need to dial down their personal insult meter a few notches. Logan's post that illicited several nasty and personal responses seemed to me a general statement on parental responsibility not aimed at anyone in particular. In the last year or so I've noticed a lot more of this, with people reading personal insults into statements that are nowhere near personal.

If I remember correctly, the Merry Rose is not an official SCA list and therefore doesn't fall under the web minister. I would be strongly opposed to any moderation scheme.
