i am terribly sorry that i wasnt more clear with the point i was trying
(albeit maybe poorly) to make. i would never suggest that parents can
protect their child 100% of the time and agree with everything you said in
your last post. im terribly concerned if my words caused you, or anyone
else, to think i would suggest such a thing.
what i was simply trying to say is that parents need to be more vigilant
with the safety of their children. this was just a follow up to my comment
about kids running around unsupervised in wal-mart or sca events. this was
simply a continuation on the suggested that everyone at every event must
have a background check. i took some exception to your statement about
possibly being a "waste of air" and didnt realize that you misunderstood my
point and, as such, failed to clarify it. again, i am sorry that me being
unclear caused you to be upset.

He said this "again, if parents protected their children we wouldnt have
this topic." and this "if you made a baby you made a job. do it.
nothing else need be said!"
It's really hard to interpret that any way except that parents and only
parents are responsible for child molestation. I am not "crucifying"
him because he's Duke Logan; honestly I could give a rat's hind end about
rank in this particular context. I'm speaking to a very specific statement
that, in my opinion and (from comments I am getting) in the opinion of quite
a few other's, did NOT "need" to be said.
The topic of "dropping it" is an interesting one. I note that people
generally want the conversation to be dropped immediately AFTER they have
had their own 2 cents thrown in. But it does bring up the subject of
moderation. The moderator of this list said only a few days ago that he did
not, in fact, moderate this list and has not for some time. I totally
understand that he may not have the time, but any email list without a
moderator is headed into the gutter fast. To me, this conversation should
have been stopped before any of this was said and trying to stop it now is
going to be difficult without making it look as if you are taking sides. I
work with a group of people moderating a blog that is very focused in topic
and we don't allow political discussions, religious discussions, or long or
frequent off topic discussions. We will not tolerate those who regularly
engage in personal attacks and we have put people in moderation for hogging
the conversation or trying to divert the conversation to them. We tag team
to cover work, vacations and attacks of life. We communicate with each
other to maintain a sense of consistency so the readers are not immediately
aware of exactly who is doing the moderating at any particular time. We
sometimes reluctantly ban people who will not comply. I suggest that the
Merry Rose could really benefit from such a team of moderators and I would
willingly volunteer to be on such a team.
I don't know who really "owns" this list but I suspect that it falls
under the Kingdom Web Minister. For all our sanity, I strongly suggest
that some form of moderation be instituted on this list.
